Today, CAD notes is 3 years old. Well, It’s not until few more hours for you in US. It is quite strange because I thought this blog is older. Well, I feel it’s strange.
CAD notes is not my first blog. I already made several CAD blogs in Indonesian language before deciding to try blogging in English. There were blogs in several blogging platform before I stick with WordPress. But blogging in Indonesian didn’t satisfy me. It feels like there were lack of discussions. I don’t blame the readers. Indonesian readers are different with other countries. So I decided to create CAD notes.
Unbelievably, in such a short time I can connect with many veteran bloggers. Special thanks to twitter that make it possible.
They help this blog growing fast. It was Orhan Toker from Daily AutoCAD who asked me to collaborate with our blog. Unfortunately later Orhan must gave up his domain and now using http://daily-autocad.blogspot.com/. He decided not to blog anymore, just keeping the old posts.
Then I tried to contact other AutoCAD bloggers I know and tell them I want to create an AutoCAD tips list. I asked them if I can link to their favorite tips and ask them to give me links to their tips. You know what it is. It is the 100 AutoCAD tips post. It went viral and still the most popular article on CAD notes. Special thanks to all bloggers involved in that post!
I would also thank all who have written for CAD notes as guest writer. Especially to Paul Munford who wrote most. And they are great articles.
This really encourage me to keep going with this blog.
About the software covered
Lately, CAD notes looks like all about AutoCAD. I stop writing about Revit and MicroStation.
The problem is I ‘m no longer have regular access to CAD software. Including AutoCAD. I ‘m now supporting other solution, not CAD anymore.
CAD is no longer only a tool for me. It’s a hobby. And well, I think I can make use of it later for side jobs.
So I decided to break my piggy bank and purchase AutoCAD Design Suite. As long as I remember, I’m not the only blogger who have purchased a personal license. I think Robin Capper has Autodesk Building Design Suite. So yes, I probably the same kind of geek. I was thinking to purchase Building Design Suite, but it is too expensive at this moment.
So I apologize if I can’t write other than AutoCAD at the moment. I wish I can upgrade my AutoCAD Design Suite to Building Design Suite soon. MicroStation is beyond my current plan. Autodesk offers so many software in one license, very suitable for me.
I hope you enjoy CAD notes posts. I hope they are useful. And cheers to another 3 years! Don’t forget to check the most popular and the editor’s pick in the last 3 years!
CAD is a rational subject as the job point of view, you can get a smart job by CAD certification. My friend is also working with CAD lab, it is the beautiful work.
I had a long trail getting to Autodesk Building Design Suite. First owned Autosketch, upgrade to AutoCAD LT, then Architectural Desktop+Vix, then AutoCAD Architecture+Max Design, then Revit Suite (Arch+Max), then BDS!
Vix? Viz!
I remember when ADT still has Viz. It was Viz render right? Not the full version?
You start from the very bottom Robin! But now you get them all :D I wish I can upgrade mine to BDS soon!
