api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll is missing

April 28, 2017 by Edwin Prakoso 3 Comments

This issue is not new, it’s been known since AutoCAD 2017. However, I see many customers are having this problem. So I thought I should share it here.

After you installed AutoCAD (Or AutoCAD-based software) you see this warning and AutoCAD doesn’t start. I’ve seen the same cases mostly on Windows 8.1.

The solution is simple. You only need to install all Windows updates, this should install the required component.

But if this solution doesn’t work, see all solutions from Travis Nate here: api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll is missing.

Don’t forget to install updates

Windows Updates are important to keep your machine running smoothly. Always install the updates regularly. And don’t forget to install AutoCAD updates regularly too. It should be easier to do with Autodesk Desktop App now.

Hi, Edwin:

I have been receiving your emails on AutoCAD for years and have gotten the travel bug. I am nearing retirement and just wondered….what is it like to live in Jakarta? What is it like to visit there? Were you born there or did you migrate and settle there just because of work? Just curious…have a nice day! I live in California in Sacramento and today the weather is beautiful with a wind coming from the ocean 60 miles away from San Francisco.

Hi Maggie,

Greetings from Jakarta. I moved to Jakarta to get a work here. Not my first choice to live, though. Indonesia has plenty beautiful places to spend a holiday. Like in Komodo island, Lombok, and many more places. If you like to go mainstream, there is always Bali. But if you a bit more adventurous, there are places like Belitung. Quiet place to enjoy the nature but not many amenities for tourist.
Jakarta is definitely only for work, not a good place to enjoy yourself.

Thanks, Edwin.
I took a look around Jakarta via Google Earth and I can say it seems like a place where the downtown area of commercial realty drops off suddenly into places of great poverty and lack of intra structure. I feel for the people of Jakarta. I know they must be wonderful people and rich culture .but I think you are right…I would probably prefer a place where I can enjoy culture and nature at the same place. Thank you for your reply!.
