Project Vasari: Building Concept Tool from Mass to Analysis

November 16, 2010 by Edwin Prakoso Leave a Comment

If you do many building conceptual modeling, you must love this one. This application might be showing how serious Autodesk in BIM industry. The first time I tried it, it reminds me a bit to free version of SketchUp. With this tool, you can create building mass as conceptual design quite easy.

Vasari looks and feels like Revit. You have most of Revit conceptual tools here, just like we discussed in Revit conceptual modeling tutorial.

But of course, you will not find architecture objects tool like wall, doors, etc. You will only have conceptual tools. Imagine that this is your conceptual tool, after you have done, you send it to your colleague who use Revit to continue the job. It can open rvt files, and save to rvt files.

The most interesting thing to me here is the fact that Vasari is integrated to energy and carbon analysis. The analysis is available via the cloud, so you need internet connection to use it.

Vasari also has sun path analysis, just like in Revit and Ecotect.

It also has internal solar radiation tool. I’m surprised it is very easy to use, and quickly show the result. Well yeah, this is a very simple model. But still, it is easier than I thought.
