Last time, I posted how we can make object layer to inherit the parent block layer after exploding. Jim Anderson told me that we can also use XPLODE.
I don’t reckon when this feature exist, but honestly I completely forget about it! Thank you Jim.
So what does XPLODE do?
XPLODE will explode blocks. And it also let you choose which properties you want the objects to inherit from parent block.
As you can see below, after you activate the tool and choose a block, there are a bunch of options.
Color allows you to choose which color the objects should be after exploding. You can also choose LAyer, LType, LWeight.
If you override the block properties, you can just choose to inherit all properties from parent block. The last one, Explode, works exactly the same as AutoCAD default explode tool.
All allows you to give input for each option consecutively.
It’s interesting that if you select multiple blocks, you can set it for all blocks selected (globally) or individually.
I think BURST works the same as XPLODE > Inherit from parent block. So it has less key strokes to use and no additional options. It might be faster to use BURST if you just want it to inherit the parent properties.
However, Jim told me that XPLODE is also available in AutoCAD LT. But not BURST, because it’s a part of express tools.
I must ask this, but do you even know that this tool exist? Because I didn’t!
